Utopic is a project in progress. It is a simplistic colony sim in the vein of the 1981 Intellivision classic; Utopia.

In Utopia the player controls a little flying saucer that can improve or destroy tiles around a variety of pre-made maps. There is no real overall goal in the game besides just making your colony as prosperous as possible. Of course this might change should I come back to finish it.


It's quite a colourful game that makes use of a lot of low-poly artwork. I tried to take some inspiration from both tilt shift photography and miniature models used in Euro-Style board games to reduce these big facilities like fortresses or factories, down to their simple shape.


The Map

The map is made up of a series of hexagons that lay at various heights to make up the islands that the players can occupy.

A local split-screen multiplayer is also possible where players can either help or hinder their island neighbour.


The Tiles

Players can improve the tiles into a variety of structures that each have their own advantages and disadvantages. tiles include: School, Factory, Farm, Village, Harbour, Hospital and more!
